Who We Are
The College and Youth Immersion Program at 5Cities Homeless Coalition is a hands-on learning experience designed for students who want to go beyond traditional volunteering. This program immerses participants in the day-to-day work of a nonprofit organization, offering real responsibility, mentorship, and exposure to how community services are planned, coordinated, and delivered.
Participants are treated as team members, not just helpers, and are supported by staff as they build professional skills, confidence, and a deeper understanding of community impact
What We Do
College and Youth Immersion volunteers actively support 5CHC operations through structured, supervised roles that may include:
-
Assisting with event planning, preparation, and execution for major community fundraisers
-
Supporting shelter and meal programs through coordinated, hands-on service
-
Helping with administrative, organizational, and data-related projects that support daily operations
-
Participating in focused training and skill development through our Youth Apprenticeship Program, with opportunities to take on increasing responsibility over time
This program emphasizes consistency, accountability, and growth. Responsibilities and projects are matched to each participant’s age, interests, and readiness, with the goal of building practical skills and meaningful experience.
